Gordon Moss is scheduled to play for the 1963-2002 team, or the old man’s squad, Saturday in the annual Corona del Mar High alumni baseball game and will likely travel the furthest of anyone – from Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – to participate in the festivities.
But before the infielder heads to Arizona for spring training with the San Diego Padres, the former Corona del Mar High and Duke standout provided a glimpse of what could be in his future: Coaching.
Lemmerman, who will officially be inducted into the Corona del Mar Baseball Hall of Fame on Feb. 21, coached a Little League Junior 80s team in the fall and has been giving individual baseball lessons for youth ages 8-13 throughout the offseason.
“I can see myself coaching in the future,” Lemmerman said. “However, I still have a year left at Duke to finish (my degree) and am not 100 percent sure what I will be doing after baseball.”
We had a great turn out for our opening event!
A big THANK YOU to Jen Mannon & Dan Hess for heading up another great function.
Also to Kerry Rhodes and her relentless efforts to make sure all our players look the part when game time begins! As well as Shelley Damore for the needed extra hands to see that our crowd will be sporting CdM Baseball team wear.
And always, Donna DiFerdinando for staying on top of collections & donations to our awesome program.
We couldn't do it without all of you!
